Application of vanishing diffusion stabilization in Oldroyd-B fluid flow simulations

Abstract Two different methods of artificial diffusion stabilization the numerical simulations steady Oldroyd-B fluids flows are presented. They based on idea vanishing in time added terms which only present during initial stage time-marching process towards state solution. These extra naturally vanish and do not affect final result. The built a simple 2D case fluid flow symmetrical corrugated channel. Numerical solver uses finite element discretization space characteristic Galerkin method for pseudo-time discretization. results presented form isolines graphs selected variables, to assess possible efficiency techniques used.
